Nice article, downloaded straight away the MP3 extension. Very useful.
And I'm the first to recommend another ripper (probably not the last). CDex. Freeware (it is open source) and with one click it does all you want.

Happy ripping.
If you find good software for ripping the vinyl record collection, please let us know... _________________ Groetjes,

If you want to rip your vinyl collections, then try Audacity, it is free and open source. Its principle function is as a sound editor so you can get rid of any background hiss, pops and clicks with the built-in tools.
Connect your amp rec-output to your soundcard mic input or prefably the line input, and go for it. It will save it as a wav file. From there you can encode it to what you want with whatever, app you want.

| what really bugs me with all these ripping programs is that they require administrator rights to do something basic as reading tracks from the CD. Try it as a regular user and they can't even read the CD contents! Surely there must be a simpler way to do things? |

My CD-Riper of choice is Exact Audio Copy (EAC)
http://www.exactaudiocopy.org/
with the LAME codec. I don't know about the admin rights though.
And there's no way for convenient vinyl ripping since you have to do it in real time and switch sides too.
*If* I'm ever going to rip my about 800 vinyls I'm going to use mp3directcut
http://mpesch3.de1.cc/
which is an ingenious, very simple but quite powerful freeware. You can record directly into mp3, try to autocue them (if not working coveniently cue them by hand) and save them into the desire format.
You also can conveniently rename the tracks, but I'd rather save the unnamed, get the info from freedb (if a CD with the same content is there) and rename the tracks automatically using this freedb info with another *really* good mp3 renamer called mp3tag
http://www.mp3tag.de
All these applicatons come recommended and are freeware. |

I'm using Xplorer2 - the only file manager that does not suck. Actually, it rocks! |

By far, my favorite mp3 renaming/tag management software is MP3 Book Helper:
http://mp3bookhelper.sourceforge.net/
It does soooo much very easily, including FreeDB support and much much more. |

| Googled out I found lots of programs-tag editors. So I examined some ones. Here is a good collection of MP3 Taggers. For my opinion the best programs are mp3Tag Pro and Mp3 Tag Assistant Professional. So I bought the first one. And now it satisfied me for 100%. |
