I don't want to bring coal to your Christmas, but web folders seems to be broken for me in Vista (both Ultimate and Home Premium) with KB907306 and KB945435 (didn't bother to check without those). I'm able to add a network place and do file management in Explorer, but x2 can only list file in there -- any file copy doesn't do anything.

do you get http:// or \\network type of address in your addressbar? Are you using the same webfolder you gave me for the demo?

on my vista ultimate, either with or without these KB updates, webfolders work, but not as explained in the blog, they have the http:// "path" so they don't look like filesystem folders. Still copy/paste works

in your case, you say it looks like a network path \\www.bytegems like in the blog demo. Have you tried both <f5> and drag drop? Do they both fail?

If I drag-n-drop within x2, files are getting copied onto the server. F5 simply shows the copy dialog and does nothing.

Address bar when you browse from the tree looks like this:
C:\Users\wasker\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Network Shortcuts\My WebDAV Folder

Delete does work. Autorefresh doesn't. Ctrl-Shift-[Drive Letter] doesn't change the folder.

ok, so what you're doing is going through the network neighborhood. I've seen that. To have it work properly don't go through network neighborhood, just type the http:// path in the address bar. Then everything should work like in the demo

Naaah. I think it should work from the tree as well -- Explorer works this way.

Nothing to do with xplorer2 (fantastic file manager!) and can access my webdav folder from both x2 and Windows file manager. However I get popups "copying files" from the x2 tree (but not from the x2 pane). However I am not able to open the files directly from the x2 or win explorer pane (copy and paste works ok).
I have installed WinXPP SP3 in the hope of fixing this issue.
This a WinXPP issue but can anyone shed any light on why I can't open the files directly? Works fine on another WinXPP computer and can open the webdav files directly also upgraded to SP3 (x2 and win explorer)

There are a couple of other threads on webdav here I have studied also. (can insert them as this is my first post)

if you get a path that begins with http:// in the addressbar then you get the virtual folder version of the webfolders, and you can't edit files directly. I have asked microsoft to clarify when this happens (as opposed to a UNC path to the webfolder) but they are still looking! I bet it is some update that makes webfolders behave like remote network folders, but which? I don't know...

WEBDAV does not work on my lite installation , but works in MS file explorer!

i haven't tried webdav for some time, which windows are you running? I think the whole idea is discontinued at least for windows 7 ?

I'm running Windows XP SP2.
The problem seems to be, that this WEBDAV is https.
