How can I integrate WinRar.exe in the same way of ZIP folder? I can't see thumbnails in .rar archives. When I click the folder, it does not open in xplorer2 either.

sorry but xplorer2 cannot understand RAR only ZIP & CAB
if one day winRAR develop a shell extension to browse RAR then x2 will integrate with it

my money is with a .7z extension, which is open source and better in compression than rar anyway

Can x2 understand .7z extension? if yes, but not implemented yet, is it scheduled.

EDIT: This format interests me, so I have downloaded the app and quickly read a blog http://gomeler.com/2006/07/08/file-compression-review/ not sure of the accuracy of the content, but it says in substance that 7z is much resource hungry than .rar for compression/decompression.

EDIT II: The blog seems inaccurate. if you have a relevant info about .rar vs .7z, do you mind sharing? I am not too concern about compression, but more about CPU resource & reliability. My use is mainly to split music folders (CUE sheet, lossless file format, Photo scan) and most of the time, I do not even use compression to gain time on both side (sender-file server-receiver)

i don't have any detailed data about 7z, it's just a hunch that it's better
and to be clear I don't plan to add 7z support to xplorer2, but i bet that being open source one of these days these guys will come up with a namespace extension that xplorer2 could use too... maybe!

After a search I found Alpha ZIP. You can open rar and other files as folders, but it is shareware and does not support rar compression  Sad .

Personally I prefer rar files because of its security features. Mainly the lock function, but the authenticity verification is quite OK too.
