Hi Nikos,
I have got a “lifetime insurance” for xplorer² Pro. Am I entitled to a free upgrade to the “Ultimate” version, or do I need to pay the difference in price?
Regards,
Robert

Nice work!

I'm pleasantly surprised by the changes in v2.1, especially the details pane: nice work!

With the current "non-functionality-restricted" differences between professional and ultimate versions, I definitely don't feel "betrayed" with my lifetime professional upgrades. I count myself lucky that I got rid of a lot of "family support" requiring a portable version

I tried to explain the licenses in the blog post but here we are again:

* ultimate version != professional, so your keys won't work for ultimate
* there is an upgrade path from pro>ultimate but the lifetime cover is different
* you don't need the ultimate version unless you want portability
* your lifetime cover continues giving you free upgrades for professional x2

the easiest way to grasp this is that xplorer2 ultimate is another product completely

A more plastic explanation would be:

Thanks for the new version but "custom toolbar" skins don't work anymore!

I like the new Details pane and the new icons in Thumbnail mode!

So we "professional" users are not entitled to get priority support anymore just because we don't need portability?

I told him that little sentence wasn't going to go down well with the curmudgeons on the block.  "They'll tear you a new hole," I said.  But, alas no, he never listens - there'll be no Christmas in Greece this year.

You're saying that to a German and a fellow economic basket-case Irish.  What's wrong with this picture?  Doesn't Botswana still need our old and expired tinned beef?

Can I install it "over" 2.0.0.3 version or is it more advisable to uninstall the previous version?

Can I safely "import" 2.0.0.3 settings or do I have to recreate them from scratch?

Installing "over" the previous version is fine (just be sure, of course, that x2 is not running at the time).

2.1.00 will happily use the same settings arrangement as before - one or two things will be added, but "importing" will work fine.
